Hello Wilcox Families and Friends,
There is so much happening this month. Through the support of our school site council, we started our month launching Playworks in our playground. Students loved all the new games that were introduced in the playground. Mrs. Garces, Mrs. Retana, and Mrs. Alatorre-Perea lead the launch by practicing the new games before recess and all students with the support of our your Junior coaches (Wilcox Students) played with fun on the yard. Our Yard Supervisors also received small group coaching by Playworks between recess and lunch. Improving our yard safety and seeing our students happily playing new games was a site to see.
Our English Language Learners (ELL) continue with ELPAC testing this month. Ms. Moreno and our teachers have been working together to prepare our ELLs during designated ELD time. Last month, students attended an ELPAC information assembly lead by Mrs. Moreno and Martin. Our Wilcox students are all geniuses and continue to model their leadership through student encouragement with their peers by saying encouraging words like, "You got this!" as students are picked up for ELPAC. Way to go young leaders
Parent/Teacher conferences are quickly approaching this month and we look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's process. Our conferences are the week of March 18th - 22nd and evening conferences are on Thursday, March 21st from 4:00-6:00PM. The time for your conferences is limited and we want to be sure you leave with as much information as possible. Come prepared with questions to help keep the conference conversation focused. Teachers will be reaching out to you to schedule your conference.
