Principal's Message

Hello Wilcox Families and Friends,

February is an exciting month for our students and staff. On February 1st, we kicked off our month with the 100th day of school. It was truly adorable seeing our wildcats dress as 100 year old people and creative seeing our teacher engage their students with 100 day activities. Although February is our short month there is a lot to do and remember. We have two Monday holidays-no school, Valentine's Day, and Spring Picture Day.

Our English Language Learners (ELL) embark on the first wave of state assessment to demonstrate their English Language Skills via the ELPAC Assessment. Ms. Moreno and our teachers have been working together to prepare our ELLs during designated ELD time. This month, students attended an ELPAC information assembly lead by Mrs. Moreno and Martin and wrote their own ELD goals in their classrooms. Our Wilcox students are all geniuses and I know that they will perform their best.

Our young leaders are working hard with modeling responsibility, respect and safety on campus. We have been successful with implementing one PAW store a month but we would like to hold a minimum of two stores a month to recognize our students. If you have any leftover party favors, lollipops (ex. Dum Dums), little fidget toys, and stickers to name a few, we are always accepting donations for our PAW store.

Our AVID Site team and PTA helped launch our College T-shirt Rally last week, Wednesday 2/7/24. All students received a free grey college t-shirt and attended a rally at the upper playground. We strongly encourage that our students continue to wear they grey college t-shirts every Wednesday. We are truly appreciative of our PTA for providing the shirts. It is exciting to see our college spirit come alive at our school. The road to college starts at Wilcox Elementary School!

Lastly, in the theme of promoting a positive school culture, school spirit and a college going culture. I encourage all our Wilcox Wildcats to observe and wear the following T-Shirts during the week:

• Wednesday’s College Day: Wear a College T-Shirt

• Thursday’s PBIS/Anti-Bullying Day: Wear your blue Smurfs T-Shirt or a blue shirt

• Friday’s School Spirit Day: Wear your School T-Shirt or school colors (green and yellow)

We remain steadfast in our mission to educate our students and guide them as they discover their passions and pursue their dreams. Thank you for your patience and continued support and most importantly thank you for continuing to send your children to school. Gooooo Wildcats!!!
